Over the past year, God has been teaching me what it means to trust Him more deeply and follow Him with open hands. It has been a season of both loss and healing, and through it all, He has faithfully reminded me that His plans are always better than my own.
As I learned to surrender my own plans to Him, He began gently changing my heart. Instead of remaining consumed by what I had lost, He opened my eyes to children who are here right now—children who need to be loved, cared for, and reminded that they are deeply seen by Him. He took a heart that was grieving and gave it a place to serve.
Somewhere along the way, I realized this was never really about running. God has been teaching me that following Him often looks like simply saying "yes" with whatever He's placed in your hands. For me, that has meant stewarding the body He has given me, relying on His strength instead of my own, and using something as ordinary as running to love children I'll likely never meet.
I had very little to offer except a willing heart, and God graciously chose to use it.
That's what led me to join the 2026 52.4 team. Over the next several months, I'll be training to complete four half marathons while raising support for children living with HIV/AIDS in India.
Every runner covers their own race expenses, so 100% of every donation goes directly to meeting the needs of these children—providing medical care, nutritious food, education, medicine, transportation, and whatever needs are greatest each year.
My prayer is that every mile points beyond myself and toward Christ. As 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." I know these races will be challenging, but I'm grateful I don't have to rely on my own strength. I simply get the privilege of saying "yes" and watching what God does with it.
